Wagons Ho!

Getting ready to type my blog!

This was the first day of our trip! We packed our "wagon." All my things are in the pink bag. I brought food for two weeks, treats, toys, treats, water, treats, my shirt, treats, my raincoat, and more treats!

I'm ready!

We drove from home in Reston, Virginia to Zanesville, Ohio. We passed farms, rolling countryside, mountains, woods, and rivers. That is all I remember because I fell asleep, and slept almost the whole way. The motion of the car rocks me to sleep.

I think I'm getting sleepy.

But wait! While I was falling asleep, Tia Judy and Amanda listened to Little House in the Big Woods. There I was, a little dog in a big car, hearing about a little house in the big woods.

Little dog in a big car.

Did you know that this book explains how to 1) cure a deer, 2) catch and salt fish, 3) butcher a pig, 4) grow and dry vegetables, 5) trap muskrat, mink, foxes, wolves, and bears, 6) make butter, 7) make bullets, 8) make molasses, sugar, and snow candy, 9) make maple syrup, 10) make cheese, 11) collect honey, and 12) harvest oats and wheat. Boy! That makes me hungry, but I think it must be a lot of work to do all of those things!

I don't see any bears yet. Anything else you want me to do?

Where are we going? We are going to follow in the footsteps of Laura Ingalls Wilder. She wrote a series of books about the places where she lived on the American frontier in the Midwest. She was born in 1867. The most important thing I learned today is that Laura likes dogs. Her family's dog, Jack saved her mother from a wild panther. Jack is my hero, too.

Are we there yet?

Today, I am not a hero. We are now in our hotel room in Zanesville Ohio and all I want to do is run play, and eat my treats. So I'm going to sign off with a big WOOF so I can run around the room!

Yummy!
